We have just returned from our 7 day Southern Caribbean cruise aboard the Carnival Victory and two of the things I wanted to check out was the railings on the decks and the presence of security on Antigua.  Both subjects of this blog in the past.  First of all after standing squarley against the balconies of several decks as well as watching several other passengers both tall and short, you would really have to climb up on them in order to fall over or be lifted and pushed.  As one of the recent accidents, seem to admit ("he climbed up to get a better look at a tug boat").  The ships are moving even though they may not feel like it.  Common sense would tell you not to climb or sit on the rails. I do know that many times some folks do not exrcise common sense due to their alcoholic consumption and you are expected to have a good time, however, come on folks, a lost of life is not funny or fun, so drink and act responsibly.  Parents, don't let your kids  roam around ships un-attended. It is not a wise thing to do, and if you read the fine print in the form you sign.  You are responsible for all of their actions.

Secondly, on the sublect of Antigua.  Security was visible and we had a fantastic time around the island and at the Sandals Resort where we did a tour and enjoyed the beach and made new friends amongst the staff.  It is a beautiful resort and the Sales staff, boutique staff, bartenders as well as everyone we met were fantastic and very helpful.  Even the taxi driver went an extra mile.  It is a must place to visit.  We hope to go back there and really spend some time.  As for safety, I can't repeat it often enough.  Common sense plays a big part.  Be aware of your surroundings wherever you are and don't flash large sums of money.  Protect your valuables whether aboard a ship or at a resort.  That's what the safes are for.  Most of all enjoy yourself but take precaution.
